Adam Schoenfeld, not the poker player: Do people click ads on their favorites sites to support publishers?

I've wondered about the same thing. If the "clicker" actually looks through the advertiser's site then it does not seem like anything is amiss. But, how many people click ads instead of making donations (for sites that provide donation buttons, of course)?

I once saw ads newly installed on the forum for a CMS. Many of the first posts about it were either anger about the bother or a promise to click ads for the sake of supporting the platform.

Thanks... that is another good piece of anecdotal data. It seems there is kind of a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours mentality" in some circles that would prompt clicking as a donation

We had to disable Adsense support on FunAdvice because of abuse :( Fraudulent clicks are difficult because who knows if they're real or not?
